Re: riding and calories...
My husband is skeptical of these claims also.......and I have to admit as
one who has run for an hour; biked for an hour, and posted/cantered for an
hour-that I doubt the riding is as aerobic and burns as many
calories.........heck, I have done HARD rowing workouts on our ergometer for
a half hour-
constant hard work, sweating, elevated heart-rate to find the erg claims I
only burned 250 calories-and
THAT is far harder than any kind of riding I can think of. No doubt riding
does burn some calories, and requires some muscle fitness, but you just
can't compare it to running.....
Here is the test-if someone thinks they can post a horse for an hour, then
they "should" be equally fit to run for an hour, or bike for an hour......if
all the exercise is comparable.
