Re: gimme shelter
Some friends built a temporary shelter of straw bales
reminds me of an old-time shed a poor neighbor built waaaay back when I
was a kid--they put up posts cut from trees with a fork at the top--then
laid the roof posts in those forks. They wound two layers of woven wire
(maybe chicken wire) around the three sides then stuffed straw/old hay in
between those. They stretched woven wire across the top (adding a few more
posts for rafters and tying them down with wire) then piled the straw/hay on
top of that, making it domed to shed water. Then they just re-stuffed the
thing every year. Seems they may have used a long-bladed grass for the
roof--it's been a long time. Claudia
