RE: Equi-Pak & Equi-Build
Equi-Pak is an
excellent product. I have used it without a screen, with a screen and
under a pad. Using the screen was the best option for my horse with a
medium cup in his foot. Stayed quite well, even through mud and helped him
develop more cup and heel. We reset every four weeks during race
season.
For our flat-footed,
low cupped horse, we used to use simply the screen. Couldn't keep it
in. This particular horse is a ewe-necked, 1/2 Quarter Horse who is heavy
on the forehand and has little extension to his gait (a whole separate issue!),
but can trot fast!! For this horse, we went to Equi-pak under a shock
absorbing synthetic pad; using it much as you would regular silicone. This
has done wonders for this horse. In just five weeks using the pad
combination, the horse developed a great deal more cup for the first time in his
life. He also moved like a dream. So, we got both protection and
therapeutic results using it this way.
I have not used
Equi-Build, but can attest that the Equi-pak works wonders for many
reasons. I also have a friend who has used it all season on her "first
string" endurance horse with excellent results.
Any feed back from anyone on these products. I am still
looking for the perfect pad set up. I don't need pads all the time,
but when I do it seems my blacksmith and I can't seem
to get it right.
- Is it too far back?
- Is it too short?
- Should it cover the whole frog and stick out past the shoe?
- Leather or Urethane?
- How far back should the shoe go?
Is the world flat or round?
AHHHHHHHHH
