And horses aren't affected by "beliefs" much at all.  Which is why it is 
pretty obvious when chiropractic treatment helps--when the horse is moving 
wrong or guarding due to pain or whatever, and he gets adjusted, and he moves 
off just fine for the first time in days or weeks or months.  He didn't read 
any billboards, and nobody told him beforehand what to "believe."   He didn't 
come to the sesion with any preconceived notions, or indeed, any idea what is 
going to happen to him at all.  He just moves according to what does or 
doesn't work.
