RE: Covering the S Hack nose piece
I ride w/o sheepskin when I use the S Hackamore. I tried the sheepskin
and he just leans more heavily on it. No respect. During one fast, downhill
ride
we worked a couple of "divots" into his nose from the noseband, so the
noseband can be pretty rough. I spoke to someone else about it, and his
reply was "they have no business leaning into the noseband anyway!" which
I am inclined to agreee. I saw someone else had someone put a beautiful
leather cover on hers. I suppose I would do that if I used the "S" 100%
of the time, but Beau actually rounds better with a french link snaffle
bit anyway! Only when I'm lazy, or when I had my "rude" finger in a splint,
would I use the S Hackamore for neck reining. He does respect the bare
noseband and we had no problems except for that one ride.
The sheepskin is definitely an extra.

Subject: RC: Covering the S Hack nose piece
I'm expecting my new Arabian S Hackamore in the mail any day now.
Several people have written that I will have to cover the nose piece
with sheepskin. Do any of you use this Hack just as it comes? If it
must be covered, why aren't they made that way in the first place? Or
offered as an option?
Thanks.
Amber
