Brook,
My mustang is allergic to flies and just chews himself raw sometimes. For an
incredibly quick "healer"  I use this really cheap triple antibiotic
ointment (top care-store brand).  Comes in a one ounce tube for about $2.00.
I spread it on the raw areas 2-3x daily and in 3 days it's usually healed
over and the hair starts coming back.
I also use a 1:3 mix of Listerine mouthwash and water to spray his body 2X
daily-it helps with the itching sensation (add fly spray and no-name
sunscreen sometimes).
Try the ointment, though, it's cheap and it really does work. (my husband
uses it too)
