I really need to clearify something...I do not advocate beating...or abuse in 
any way
personally I believe tie downs are abuse, martingales, stud chains, spurs, 
jerking a lead rope are all abuse.  Look for the reason behind the problem, 
ie...High head, most people get a tie down, how about looking for the pain 
that would cause a horse to raise his head.  stud chains..or jerking on the 
lead rope....why not teach the horse to lead correctlyl....

I won't defend John Lyons cause I don't think he needs defending, but I do 
want to say I have watched training videos from John lyons, Pat Parelle, 
Martha Josey, Sharon Camarillo, Linda Tellington Jones, Donna Snyder 
Smith...etc...I don't agree with every ones training methods but I eat the 
grapes and spit out the seeds...If I can glean one thing to help me be a 
better rider or to help  my horse then I am all the better for it.  I love to 
learn new stuff and am never to proud to listen to all sides and all angles 
cause there is alittle truth in everything that is said.

And as far as John Lyons making money off of the knowledge he has...I say 
Good For Him!   I would love to  make GOOD money off of what I love to do, 
and to help people and horses to boot...Man Life is Good!  And just think of 
it...the fact that all these trainers are making all this money means that 
more horse people are trying to better themselves...Good for their horses!!!!
