Hi,
Use an all-purpose veterinary poultice dressing called ANIMALINTEX by
Robinson. Your vet should be able to get it for you.
Abcess is a real concern. A twenty minute soak, twice a day in Epsom
salts, pad with the above dressing (draws well), slip an Easy Boot over the
whole thing and be religious about it.
If your horse does not abcess, things will be better in three or four
days. I the lameness does not get better, get some hoof-testers, locate the
abcess, dig it out and then return to the above protocol.
Bute and antibiotics as your vet prescribes.
