Active-x is not a virus any more than any other program is a virus. But they
can be. Some active-x controls are 'safe' - for example those that
manipulate the screen. Others are potentially unsafe. Microsoft flags those
that are potentially unsafe (depending on your security settings and
assuming you have appropriate patches). Generally speaking, you don't want
to let a potentially unsafe one run unless you know the original source and
the purpose and those generally serve no good purpose in an e-mail message -
even an animated one. It is possible to analyse the html source code.
