I'd say it depends on the kind of riding instruction you were
getting. I'm not a hunt seat rider, never have received any
instruction, but I'd imagine with hunt seat you'd have less weight on
your seat, more using knees & stirrups. But I don't know for
sure.
However, what has allowed me to be the most comfortable over the miles is
putting as much of my weight as possible on my seat bones and as little
as possible in the stirrups, with no support coming from my knees and
some support coming from the thighs. It is as close as I can get to
bareback riding as I can using a saddle. I no longer have any knee,
ankle or foot problems at all. Lif
