Goodness sakes---a healthy pasture/lawn/etc ought to be full of
worms---although usually when you are out they are in the ground, doing
their earth-building stuff. They do come out at night and you just
probably found a regular old earthworm who stayed out too late. Do you see
little bitty mounds (pencil eraser tip or so) of what looks like ground up
dirt? Look a little closer and there will be little holes inside of them
where the earthworms have come out----all of this is very good for your
earth. Sometimes when there has been a lot of rain the ground gets too wet
for them and more come out--for air. If it is really dry, they burrow
deeper and deeper for moisture. Your worm was likely a pale pinkish color?
Fatten him up and go fishing--grin. Claudia
