RE: Re: Breeds
Your horses are obviously used to being around gaited horses. A riding
buddy of mine got a Peruvian Paso a year ago, and the first few rides had
all the other horses (Arabs, mostly) jigging down the road. They wouldn't
be able to decide to trot or walk or what because they are reacting to all
those extra hoofbeats! These horses are all our partners and never "lost
it", but it took several rides together before they settled down and not
worry about Rosie, the eggbeater, doing her paso thing.

I think I have heard everything now! I have never heard of a horse
spooked just because a gaited horse's footfalls sounded strange or
because they breathe in rhythm with their footfalls. I have both gaited
and
non-gaited Morgans. And one Arab. And they certainly have never had a
problem with any breed we've ridden with, from Walkers and Paso Finos,
to
Fox Trotters. I'd say a horse like that isn';t too stable, and I surely
wouldn't want to ride it! And I can't say I'd ever trust it on a trail,
with
all that you encounter. When you ride in this sport, you need a real
partner, and I won't accept less.
