RE: preloading electrolytes
My rationale in giving electrolytes before the ride is
that 1) the horse can become dehydrated during travel,
and the stress of camping, and it's a good idea to
try to replenish those lost electrolytes before the ride
begins, and 2) a dose right before the ride begins provides
a reservoir in the stomach to be drawn upon once the horse
starts losing electrolytes through sweat.

Subject: RC: preloading electrolytes
I have a recollection of being told at some point that preloading
electrolytes more than the night before the ride didn't have any real
effect (no harm but no help either). It sounds like people are preloading
several days in advance. Am I reading that correctly? What are people's
on preloading and how much in advance it is useful?
