What does your horse weigh when fit?
IMO, I think you weren't
electrolyting enough on the day of the ride,
especially if it was hot enough for him to sweat
for most of the ride.
Your 2 doses, 1 in the am & one at lunch, totalled
about 4 oz?
There have been posts on RC where multi-day riders
used 14 oz to 16 oz electrolytes per day.
(Maybe some of them will respond again?)
There were several posts on RC more than a year ago
about horses with high, hanging pulses, or spiking pulses, and
the consensus was electrolyte imbalance.
You may want to consider dawing blood for an electrolyte
panel, as you've had 2 instances of high heart rate.
(How is it at home after a training ride?)
