Re: cleaning ears - ear ticks
I was hoping for a preventive for ear ticks----these horses are in a pasture
about 30 miles away---they get "looked at" every day but not handled or
treated---and there is a row of trees the horses like to stand under---where
they are getting the ticks, I am sure. I appreciate the advise for what
to do to kill the ticks that are there--but these boys are getting a little
sensitive about their ears---didn't I hear someone say one time you could
put a tick and flea collar on the horse??? What about that??? Would it be
toxic for horses? Claudia

causing the problem, I use a fly repellant concentrate (i.e. Adams Fly
Repellant Concentrate). Not only will it kill the ticks it also contains
aloe vera and other soothing agents. Usually all it takes to kill the ticks
is about 3-6 cc in each ear. Another thing that will kill ticks is Co-Ral
ear powder but I think it was pulled off of the market several years ago.
Hope this helps anybody that has problems with earticks.
