We Run!

Howdy Fellow Horse Lovers!!!
Today, and also last Monday, my P.E. teacher (yep, i'm
still a youngen in High School) had a run a mile.
Ahhh! For one thing, I barely reach 5'2, and I'm not
an aerodinamic (sorry on spelling?) body shape. The
people that run the 6 and 7 minute miles, great for
you! I can only do an 8 minute. Thats my average and
best time, period.
That's how my other horse Sam is. He's just a muscular
ol' Quarter Horse that is slowing down a bit, and can
go for quite a ways, but once you reach that peak, the
other horses (Thunder, my 16.1 hh want to be Paso
Fino/Arab/Thoroughbred) can just bust gut and GO! GO!
GO! for a long ways, at a really fast pace.

I hurry at just about everything I do, except getting
my horses ready, and taking care of them. They are
priority, and come first w/ top quality care. Maybe it
has something to do w/ an inner obsession of wanting
to keep up w/ the taller ones??
Also, do any of you have any idea how goll darned hard
it is to have to mount up on a 16.1 hh horse that
doesn't like to stand for very long, especially when
you have to have very short stirrups, and your legs
just won't stretch any further up there???!!!
I REALLY APPRECIATE SHORT HORSES!!

Anyway, Thunder, we've finally come to the desition,
is most definantly (sorry on spelling... again... its
Monday!! :) not cut out for endurance. I KNOW this for
a fact because the gets nervous on the trail if really
different area for a ride, he goes and goes and goes,
and dowsn't want to slow down about half the time, and
he still has his occasional buck or rear in there. We
are finally relizing that Yes, I'm not a big bad slave
driver (more like a really, short, very stubborn slave
driver >:) and we are getting along well, on leisure
rides. And even though I'm not going to do competition
w/ him, we are conditioning, and are eating very
healthy.......
Will continue later....
Happy trails......

=====
To My Horses: Horses are my life, horses are me, horses are the answer, the key. Without them I'd perish, no friends, no life with which to live. Them, always will I cherish, their love, and what they give. Horses are my life, horses are my way. And never will the day come, that I'd throw one way. They come, and go like the weather, but leave a mark in my heart that will stay forever. My boys, I love! ~Kelsey
