FYI, I've never heard of any CTR group counting points off for
a pulse of 40, in fact I think 44 is fine for all groups
though I dont know.  NATRC used to use 48 in the olden days when
I dabbled with them. For LD or endurance the lowest pulse criteria
I've ever heard (for starting the holds, not after a 5-10 minute rest)
is 56.  60 is fairly standard for LD's, and 50's can range from 56 to
68, though 64 is probably used 90% of the time.  Many horses have
a resting pulse no lower than 40, and no horses get bonus points if
they do have an extra low resting pulse rate.
