otherwise, I guess that is a whole 'nuther couple of subjects, why the RM
was involved in a vet decision, and why a lame horse was cleared to go back
out on a terribly hard ride with tough terrain.

Slightly "off" could be Grade 1, as defined by AERC regulations and
interpreted by the Vet. In accordance with the rules, horses are considered
"fit to continue". It is not just "lameness", it is degree of lameness and
the horseowner's abilitly to decide just how important winning a new hoofpick
is.
And I have to ask, What is the Purpose of the almightly "STATS" anyway???
Why do they have to be so accurate?
Each regional group of endurance riders KNOW why horses don't complete.
The vets KNOW why horses don't complete.
Sounds like the STATS are for rationalizing and justifying to
WHO......Animal Rights Groups???...BOD????....
And PLEASE don't tell me the stats are to be used to educate the
membership of AERC.....the membership (those of us members) KNOW why horses
don't complete.
So, what's the big deal?
Frank.
