where do you live that you see so many cats?

around here - san diego area - they post signs in the parks about what to
do:

don't run
take off your shirt or whatever and hold it over head to try and look bigger
don't bend down to pick up rocks
i forget the others, but the general gist is don't do anything that a prey
animal does! they didn't mention screaming, but prey animals do a lot of
screaming;-)

i wonder if having a squirt water bottle aimed carefully would help.  have
also wondered about the pepper sprays, that someone else asked about, but
didn't see an answer yet.   jm
