Regarding Garret's very scary story; (and the incident in Cool where the
woman running along was attacked and killed), I can't help thinking that
running ALONE
is extremely risky in these areas.  Could both of these incidents have been
prevented had the runners had dogs with them?  If I can't find a
hiking/running partner, I ALWAYS take one of my dogs.  Unfortunately, more
and more trails are being closed to dogs due to inconsiderate owners.
