Too many years ago I worked for six months on a typewriter, whacking out my
first 100,000 word novel. Exhausted, I sat down and read it through. Final
judgement: there was one redeeming feature of all this effort. I'd learned to
type.
The moral of the story is that at a million words, with the help of people
like Bobbie Lieberman, you finally know how to write--and trash the first
200,000. Whether what you write, once you know how to write, is worth
reading--that's a whole nother story.
