The dogs in the Iditarod live to run. At hook up time they will all be
screaming to go. Its unbelievable. While the dogs you see in racing today
are no longer Siberians, they all have a good deal of Sib in them because
that's what it takes to want to run for days on end. From watching the show,
my guess is that the lead teams were averaging about 14 miles per hour.
Quite amazing for that distance. And still loping at the end. Years ago,
most of the dog teams would be trotting.
so do you think "night vision" goggles are legal in endurance.
