I too would like to know the answer to this. While all three of the riders in
our family are most capable of this, even our 12 year old, it seems rather a
cheap shot, since there are ALSO differences in both the quality and tenor of
different stethoscopes. Hardly fair to penalize a rider for that. Just to be
on the 'safe' side, I had to wait with my mare till she was down to about 52,
just in case a passing horse took a nip at her and sent it up again, thereby
forcing us to wait longer. Fortunately, the vet taking it was most patient,
and continued to listen as a horse DID pass by and swat my mare in the face
with its tail( of course, begging the question, why did that rider walk her
horse so close to another horse??)
:)

Where is the rule that if you can not take your own horses PR that you can be
penalized time? I have searched the AERC Rule Book and VET manual and ride
manager manual but seemed to have overlooked it. i am fortuanate enough to
be able to PR my horse and I also have a heart monitor to fall back on. But
I can't seem to find the Rule in the book. I have a call in to AERC in
Auburn . Was there as change at the Committee Review? I need to know.
