Re: Tell me why not
Well, excess protein for a start......or am I wrong? Rightly or wrongly I
would tend to steer clear of luzerne (alfalfa) as the sole source of forage.
I certainly wouldn't use it in preference to beet pulp.
I do use a chaff that is 50% oat straw and 50% luzerne and also Dynavena
Bricks that are compressed and are 50% luzerne and 50% cereals.
Must check the prices but I think here beet pulp is cheaper, not that price
is the ultimate issue.
One very useful thing about beet pulp, particularly the molassed version, is
making beet pulp juice which is the only thing my gelding Darrar will drink
once he's left home to go to a big ride.
My 2 cents worth
