camping

Hi, Campers,

  A few years ago, a friend of my husband's lent us his small camper to use 
for a camping trip. We usually tent it, but we were considering buying a 
camper and wanted to "try one on for size".
 
Anyway, said camper had been used hard but appeared clean. We stopped in the 
middle of  Montana for our first night. Once the sun went down it got cold in 
a hurry, and we very gratefully fired up the propane heat, had dinner, etc, 
then went to bed. 
Well. After about an hour, Dale woke  up and said, "Something bit me." 
What? "Something bit me!" And then something bit me, and then both of us were 
suddenly being zapped everywhere..........oh my god the mattress, the camper, 
everything was full of fleas! 
Jeez louise, I've never been bitten so hard, so many times in so many parts 
of my anatomy in my life. There must have been a leventy million of them, all 
these bloodsucking hordes. We could SEE them hopping for us like we were 
zebras being attacked by hyenas. Both of us jumped out of the camper, naked 
as eggs. Fortunately, no one else was near our camper...what a sight that 
would have been..two naked, cursing, middle aged people slapping themselves 
silly in the middle of a 40 degree Montana campground..oh, did I mention that 
even though it was 40 or so degrees, that the mosquitos decided they'd try a 
taste too?

Need I say we moteled it for the rest of the trip??
