I agree that we can be irresponsible riders but, at the place I was riding, 
it was illegal for any mountain bikers to be on that trail. The kid had no 
clue! So we told him nicely. I don't mind bikers on the trail and I will wear 
some kind of bell to make myself heard but will the bikers wear bells too? I 
think if they do open it up to bikers, they should be told that horses were 
here first and to be considerate enough to wear the bells and announce coming 
up from behind. It should be a mandatory thing so nobody gets hurt. 

And no, I wasn't going fast in my trot. I hadn't even gotten into the trot 
yet when the kid rounded the corner. If he'd have even known it was a horse 
trail, he may have been going slower around the corner. Deb
