If I remember the story right, the chips were free from a
company that went along clearing near roads & power lines,
and people had planted them for ornamental type trees near
fences and along driveways. They were using the chips for
mud control I think and the horses were eating the needles
they could find. I could check with our vet to double check
this story if anyone is interested.
