Sounds like you've got more work to do than this, and there are lots more
experienced people than myself here, but one thing that helps for me is
that momentum is your friend.  A horse that's moving in the right direction
tends to keep moving, and a horse that's stopped tends to stay that way.
If I walk Laser up to a trailer, let him come to a full stop, and then ask
him to get on, he might not.  If I walk him away from the trailer (that
he's previously inspected for the dread Horse Eating Monsters) about 15 ft
or so, turn him around, and then keep him moving right up to the trailer,
he'll just step up and get in.
