Re: Need rain gear suggestions

Sue,
I never could get used to riding in the Driza-Bone stuff, it was too
cumbersome and heavy like you mentioned. Last year I bought a light
Gore-Tex rain coat (short) large enough to wear over heavier coat or
polarfleece and Gore-Tex pants from REI. I'd never go back! It is easy to
ride in, easy to move around in, comfortable and light. I walk in them too.
I got breathable ones, more expensive, but better I think. The rain pants I
got have an outside leg zipper from the waist to the foot so I can zip them
off and on over anything. I can also put them on without dismounting if I
want too as they completely unzip. One of the best things is that I can
stuff them in my pack if it isn't raining! They bunch right up. You can
look on the REI outlet, I got mine half price at the end of the season!
Normally the pants are around $99 to $198 and the coat was I think $75; end
of season was half that.
