Just Deb's 8" per 1000#. As you get out to extremes it would have to alter a
little bit, I think, just because as you go closer to zero it just
intuitively doesn't work right. But it is pretty good within riding horse
weight ranges. As for correlating it to build--that's just common sense. A
lot of bone on a slight body doesn't fit, nor do toothpicks on a tank.
I apologize, too, for not being able to do math in my head very well early in
the morning--I goofed on figuring the adequate for an 880# horse in my
earlier post, as I was just subtracting segments from 8". What you do is
take the percentage of 1000 and multiply it by 8--in other words, .880 x 8,
which actually gives you 7.04 for your mare. So she had plenty of bone for
her weight, in reality--not even marginal!
