Re: RC: Re: Re: Solar Water Heaters
Our solar guy says the following:
Steve Baer of Zomeworks [Albuquerque NM] called, so I thought, well,
lets ask Steve about solar heaters for troughs. He told me some years
ago several ranchers had requested the same. They designed something
akin to Dr Spocks %$#@@&%$ [note: I have no idea what he means by this
- anyone else know? Lif] and while it did work, they lost lots of money
with it. All he would tell me is that is had an aquarium pump to lift
the warm water up, thereby reducing the icing. He liked it, ranchers
liked it, but cowboys didn't. Hey, that's part of their job, oh
well....... Any wind there, could use a wind generator and heating
element, paint the south facing side of the troughs black, we have done
that, plus there is a paint on the market that is heat absorbing, and is
used on some solar hot water heater applications; Know this sounds
nuts, but you could also bury the tank in the ground somewhat, or use a
really deep tank, say 5' deep, and bury it 4' down. Sorry, this is all
a twisted mind could come up with, next to napalm).
