rider weight issues

Carla, you got the power, baby! As I sit here, poised on the brink of
middle age (turn 35 tomorrow - BOO HOO, yeah right), I find myself
getting really uppity about this issue.

Kirstin, it's not about being skinny or fat, it's about taking care of
yourself and your horse. Starving yourself to the point of weakness is
not taking care of yourself, and it won't help your horse, either.I find
it hard to believe that anybody in the featherweight range is overweight
for their body size - unless you're about 4 feet tall! Women have a
unique physiological advantage for sports of extreme endurance - extra
body FAT - it gives us staying power, both mental and physical. Some fat
is good. Besides, people of all sizes succeed at endurance - take a look
around, and liberate yourself from the strict standards society puts on
us women. Strength and toughness matter - weight's a minor issue. Enjoy
life. Enjoy food. Enjoy your horse.

Chelle (I'm a lightweight, but who cares?) and Mystik Star (I'm the one
with the big butt)
