Equine Passport
Passing this along from the CTR List....Gretchen:
It is from: Texas Animal Health Commission (1-800-550-8242)
"ANYONE FOR AN EQUINE PASSPORT?
If you rodeo, ride trails or move your horse interstate on a regular
basis,
you'll like the equine passport. TAHC commissioners adopted a
regulation
allowing for the alternative document at their Sept. meeting in Austin.
FINAL PREPARATIONS OF THE DOCUMENT ARE BEING MADE AND WILL BE READY IN
EARLY 2000.
The passport has the following requirements and benefits:
-the passport will be valid for six months and replaces the certificate
of
veterinary inspection for equine between the participating states of
Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Mississippi. When the passport
is
used, the EIA test must be run every six months, and the EIA test
document
(VS 10-11) also must be carried.
-only one equine may be listed on a passport, and the document must be
completed by an accredited veterinarian.
-Permanent equine identification is required: tattoo, brand, or
microchip-type implant.
Note: The equine passport can't be used for animals entering a
pari-mutual
race track in Texas. These equine must have had a negative EIA test
within
the past 12 months and a certificate of veterinary inspection issued
within
the previous 45 days." end of article.

Note the mention of 45 days for the health certificate. Also, I wasn't
shouting, the caps were from the article. Found this very interesting!
