A couple of summers ago I worked at a local rental stable as a guide. Until I
started using my own young horse, I rode the stable's young
Andalusian/Qtr/Paint cross. Her mother was a huge paint but the filly was
small, maybe almost 15 hands, and tanky. She was pretty, but miserable to
ride. She could not cover ground either at the trot or canter and had a
rotten disposition as well. I was not impressed.
