Ask him next time what the angles and toe lengths are...if he were ever
injured and you needed to have someone fill in, then you would know what it
is that your farrier does that works for your horse. EVERYONE should know
this information and keep a record of it...It is a great way to know
exactly how much foot your horse is growing between trims/shoes (or not)
and HOW it grows out (does the angle change, stay the same, etc.). Nelson
filled in for a couple of farriers this summer as we were getting the
business off the ground and had a little time to help out...the owners that
knew what their horses needed were much better off than those who didn't
(and it sure helped Nelson know what to do!). Those who didn't know, we
made a record of all that on the bill so the farrier would know when he
returned what Nelson had done and what he had to work with. Let me know
what you find out!
