Upcoming Elections & Bylaw

AERC Regional Director ballots will go out to the general membership in
early October. In addition to the Director Ballots, there will be a
ballot to change the definition of Limited Distance back to its original
intent, "defined as 25 to 35 miles". (Enough members petitioned to have a
re vote that it is now on the ballot.) If you recall, last year amid
much confusion and a small voter response, our Limited Distance
definition was changed to be defined as "0 to 49 miles". With that
definition, fun rides of maybe 10+/- miles are now LD and someone could
put on a 45 mile ride that would be LD. Since a horse must be 48 months
old to enter LD, does that mean this same horse can enter a 45 mile ride?
or do we change that rule...should the horse be maybe 36 months for 15
miles and less, 54 months old for 36 to 49 miles and 60 months for 50
miles and more?

However you believe and however you vote, I hope every AERC member does
vote in both the Regional Director elections and especially in the LD
vote. No matter how the vote turns out, It would be very convincing if
AERC had a large voter turnout rather than the typical 30%.
