I heard some time ago that it was illegal to trim whiskers for show in
Germany. This info came out after Klaus Balkenhaul (my hero <g>) appeared,
with one of his horses, in a close-up photo on the front of one of the
dressage magazines -- and his horse was in full whiskers. Almost looked
odd...sort of unkempt...after seeing so many shaved muzzles at the shows
over the years. But...I was *very* glad to see it. I've been guilty
myself in the past of shaving whiskers (but I never shaved inside the ears,
no matter how many people told me to do it) and I kind of resented the
standards that had been set.
