Re: RC: Breaking two year olds to ride
I started riding my Arabian the summer of his 2yo year, but backed off for a
year because I didn't think that he was mentally ready. I started riding him
again last month and I have noticed a world of difference, he is simply
handling things better now than he did last year. But....I don't think it is
a breed issue, I think it has to do with the particular horse. Just like
children learn faster and differently and at different ages, I think horses
do the same thing. My horse is physically ready to ride...to do just about
whatever I am willing to do with him now. His knees are closed and he loves
what he is doing, I am not worried that I started him too soon simply because
he is 3.
