Re: white hairs on a chestnut
The white hairs on a chestnut can be genetic. I have three chestnut
horses. One has no white hairs other than the star on her face. One has
widely scattered white hairs on her sides and belly, no relation to tack
at all, just random white hairs. The gelding developed a sprinkling of
white hairs on his face, between his sixth month and first birthday.
These white hairs are not anywhere a halter would rub. He is now five
years old and has not gotten any more white hairs as he has gotten
older. TAlking to an experienced breeder, he says that a light roaning
is common with chestnut arabians.
I hope this helps the discussion.
