Easiest way to calculate a 45 minute hold, subtract 15 min. and add an hour.
ie P & R time: 12:36 out time 1:21 >>
We use a "cheat sheet" along the side of the timer's clipboard with the
minutes already calculated, such as:
:00 -- :45
:01 -- :46
:02 -- :47
:03 -- :48
:04 -- :49
<snip>
:14 -- :59
:15 -- :00
:16 -- :01
:17 -- :02
etc.
Then all the timer has to do is get the hour right--no math at all. If the
pulse is down at 10:02, the rider goes out at 10:47. If down at 10:16, then
out at 11:01. It is pretty easy to tell when you have to skip up to the next
hour--if you don't, you have the rider leaving before he pulsed down, which
is pretty obvious. We do the same thing for 15 minute holds:
:00 -- :15
:01 -- :16
:02 -- :17
etc.
