Re: holds at rides
I find 30 minute holds too short, and prefer 45 minutes or even an hour
hold. Any less and there's really no time for the horse to relax and eat.
True, they eat while standing in the vet line but they can't relax as well
there with all the other horses crowding about and certainly the rider can't
relax in the vet line. Some of us need a bit of down time ourselves to make
it through more than a 50.
I also agree with Steph about stop and go vs. 15 minute holds since even
stop and go nearly always mean at least 15 minutes in the check because of
waiting for a pulse taker, then waiting for the vet (unless you just get
lucky with your timing).
