THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
I HAVE HAD AN ISSUE WITH HOW THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP HAS BEEN DETERMINED
FOR THE PAST MANY YEARS.
THE SERIES AND THE THIS LAST ATTEMPT BOTH HAD THE SAME PROBLEM.
THE HORSE ONLY HAD TO STAY SOUND 3,4 MAYBE 5 RIDES; TO MY WAY OF THINKING
THIS DOES NOT CONSTITUTE A CHAMPION ENDURANCE HORSE.
BUT THE OLD SYSTEM HAD ITS FLAWS AS WELL. NOT ALL REGIONS ARE CREATED EQUAL
AND SO HE WHO COULD RIDE THE MOST MILES WINS.
WHY NOT CREATE A SYSTEM THAT REWARDS THE FINISH IS TO WIN WITH SOME OF THE
SPEED WE ARE SEEING TODAY.
HOW ABOUT PICKING A DISTANCE SAY 1000 MILES AND TAKE THAT HORSE AND RIDERS
BEST 1000 MILES TO COUNT AS THE CHAMPIONSHIP. THAT HORSE AND RIDER TEAM MAY
DO 20 FIFTIES OR 10 HUNDREDS OR A COMBINATION OF THE ABOVE. BUT THEIR BEST
1000 MILES COUNT FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP. ANYONE WHO REALLY WANTS TO BE THE
CHAMPION WILL BE ABLE TO ATTAIN THIS GOAL. IF A HORSE RIDER TEAM RIDES MORE
THAN THAT (SAY WHAT TRILBY DOES) THEN ONLY THE HIGHEST POINT MILES COUNT FOR
THE CHAMPIONSHIP.
THIS WILL HELP RIDE ATTENDANCE AS IT WILL REQUIRE MORE MILES BY MORE PEOPLE
TO WIN. THUS A DEMAND FOR MORE RIDES WHICH IS WHAT WE ALL WANT, RIGHT?
YOU WILL BE ABLE TO REDUCE THE COMPLAINT OF I HAD TO TRAVEL 2000 MILES TO GET
TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP OR WHATEVER. YOU HAVE HORSES THAT SHOW THAT THEY CAN
ENDURE.
JUST MY THOUGHTS AND I WELCOME YOUR INPUT.
