Re: underground Mules (mine shafts)
My grandfather told me about underground Mules:
He got quite attached to one, working in the coal
fields of NE PA. When they retired that mule, he
took him home, and built a stall in his barn for him.
That first year it got so hot in July that the popcorn
grandpa planted started to pop on the stalk!! It covered
the ground for as far as you could see.
The poor mule looked out of the barn, saw the
popcorn, thought it was snow, and FROZE TO
DEATH!! (TRUE STORY <g>)!!!
