Pan Am BC--Penalty

Hello Ridecamp,

The Lyon Crew is finally back from Canada and I'm trying to catch up on the
wonderful coverage provided by Mike and his CREW.  They also posted results
at the crewing area and kept everyone informed on the scene as well.  THANKS
FOR A JOB VERY WELL DONE!

I am also trying to find the same grace and dignity that Christie displayed
after a heartbreaking (and the lawyer in me believes unjust) penalty at VC
4.  As part of Christie's personal crew, I can verify Angie's concern--Tang
was not presented with a heartrate of 61!  The team vet and the entire crew
can attest to that.  A non vet P&R person came up with 61 on a 15 second
check.  The Canadian team vet questioned it but total confusion took over at
that point.  It was not until Christie had been sent back out and then
stopped at the out gate that the decision was reached and/or
communicated--although never explained.  

From a 15 minute lead (only after Steve and Hawk were pulled after having
been awesome all day) to what amounted to almost a 15 minute hold after
Connie and Darla had left.

A 20 MINUTE PENALTY AT VC FOR THE FIRST PLACE HORSE ON A HIGHLY QUESTIONABLE
P&R OF 61 AND THEN THIS SAME HORSE TAKES BEST CONDITION! 

Through it all, Christie and her wonderful husband/crew Ron took it with a
smile and were happy with the Bronze.  Then they stayed to crew for their
other horse and rider.  Great people.
