Stifle Injury?
Hi all,
I had a
yearling QH which I was showing in halter classes that injured his stifle.
He apparently slipped in the mud while playing a bit too hard, and dislocated
it?? It's hard to remember but they actually said he was
"stifled" I think. Anyway, we took him to the vet and she
"fired" it or "burned" it with some sort of acid type
stuff. This was supposed to work because the burning tightened the
tendon. I had to keep him in a 10 x 10 stall where he couldn't move around
for about 6 weeks to a month and do daily hydrotherapy on his legs because he
stocked up so bad. I don't know whether people still do this with stifle
problems anymore, and I may be describing this wrong- I was only a kid when all
this took place. The colt went on to be a ranch horse and was never lame
in that leg again. Rachael
