Re: SHoeing problem
Is there enough hoof to use Equilox hoof epoxy? The old TB
had such bad feet that first winter he ended up not being
able to keep shoes on at all... until I switched farriers.
The "new" farrier (he's been around for 4 years now so he's
not new anymore) was able to completely rebuild all 4 feet
with equilox and fiberglass. Your farrier embeds the fiberglass
into the equilox... it hardens... and you nail right through.
This stuff works great. Magnum horse went right back to work
the next day and kept his shoes for 6 weeks. We conditioned on
rebuilt feet then did our first 30 miler still on Equilox rebuilt
feet. The vet kinda looked at them funny since equilox feet are
a bit lumpy, not totally smooth like real feet, but then again he
has a lumpy ankle too. Yup, we finished just fine.
I highly suggest you try the stuff. Should be just the ticket.
