Bits
My 3 1/2 year old 1/2 arab filly is currently at the trainers
for 30 days training. He uses a D ring sweet iron/copper inlaid
snaffle. I have always used a mechanical sidepull on my other horses so am
totally confused after browsing the catalogs looking for a bit to buy.
Should I just assume that the bit she is being trained in will work
the best?
Can anyone explain the advantages/disadvantages and difference
of action of the following bits:
Type of rings: O-ring, D-ring, loose ring, egg
butt, or full cheek
Type of mouthpiece: jointed snaffle, Dr. Bristol
snaffle, rollers, twisted, smooth, heavyweight, lightweight
Material of mouthpiece: copper, sweet iron,
stainless
