Hi. I always use my heart monitor. It helps me to care for my horse better on 
the trail even when just pleasure riding. There were a few times when I would 
ride with friends who would say that they wished they would have bought one. 
Many times you'll be riding along and not knowing if your horses heart rate 
is too high. I'm still a newbie and I am so glad I bought one. I got mine 
from V-MAX. It's a V-MAX ENDURO C. Go to www.vmaxept.com and you'll see and

you got one. I used a friends Polar and sometimes it wouldn't work. But, mine
