Re: rice bran
Oil is cheaper. I don't have it bookmarked but Susan Evans has a great
website on nutrition which probably has her article about rice bran on it.
If not, she is the source to talk to about the pros and cons of rice bran.
I personally prefer feeding oil. We buy it in five gallon buckets and
found a pump at a local dairy and there is no mess. We actually buy soybean
oil through our feed store (they get it in 55 gallon drums) and we refill
it as we need it. Last year I had trouble keeping weight on my gelding.
This year feeding the oil (I also feed beet pulp with it) he looks great.
He thinks I'm a gourmet when I serve him up his beet pulp, grain and
"supplemental goodies" all stirred in with the oil...depending on how hard
we are working he gets anywhere from 1-3 cups a day. Good luck!
