More ? about cruppers

Hi, campers,

  I'd like to use a crupper on Jordan..I NEED to use a crupper on
Jordan..however. He has a melanoma on the left underside of the tail, right
where the hair stops growing, about an inch and a half from the junction of
tail to body. I don't know if a crupper would come in contact with the
melanoma, and I don't think it's  a good idea to let a crupper gall it. I also
don't want to have it removed, because I've learned (fortunately not with my
own horses) that you leave melanomas alone. If you have one removed, they seem
to come back, this time in bunches and angry, and....in this one particular
case I remember, killing the horse, eventually.
Any suggestions? Right now I'm doing without a crupper, but it would be nice
to have one, just to keep the saddle where I put it.
